Senator McCain Announces...

Governor Sarah Palin!

An excellent choice from the eyes of conservatives. One reason being because she is a she. Another because she is young.

The problem that will be brought up is that he did it only because she is a she. Of course those who say this will only be saying it because they are angry that their candidate choose differently.

I think Gov. Palin will be a great asset to the McCain campaign. She is the first woman since Geraldine Ferraro to be nominated to a vice-presidential role.

You cannot see it but I am smiling. As I have said, this will be a fun election. The problem is that through the fun many are missing the seriousness of the decision that has to be made in November, and that decision has to be made in two months.

I think the stakes are too high and I am still unsatisfied with the same talking points from Democrats and Republicans. I really would like to hear three or four true changes from our two candidates. Something that will help them standout. Something like:
  • "Bye, Bye IRS and hello FairTax"
  • "Bye, Bye NEA (National Educational Administration), hello vouchers"
  • How about, "Let's hear it for the Picken's Plan"
  • or maybe, "Let's cut federal spending and really strengthen the dollar!"
I just am not hearing that. I do not hear how they are going to fix social security or medicare or immigration. We are on a downhill slope headed towards a brick wall, and no one wants to stand out and push the brake. The unfortunate thing about answers is that someone always resists change.

Their problem is they need to read Visioneering: God's Blueprint for Developing and Maintaining Vision by Andy Stanley. At least it would be a start.

The Congress Does What?

President Bush has a 30% approval rating. That is definitely a failing grade, but I am not here to break that down. I want to show another number that does not get enough press - the approval rating of the Democratically led Congress. It is only 17%!

That means that 8 out of every 10 people disapprove of the Nancy Pelosi legislature. If people really want change, shouldn't that change take place in Congress? Is leaving the current crew of 435 in office a smart idea? Will their approval grow just because they are given another two or more years?

Real change will not come from the money-hungry, power-centered leaders of Congress. Congress needs to change. We need leaders in Congress who can cut spending, stop taking holidays when the U.S. needs them, and can come to terms on changing our tax system.
  • As long as our government over-spends and refuses to cut spending and then prints more money, our dollar and buying power will decrease. Our economy will continue to suffer (no matter how many times a president says it is strong).
  • As long as our economy is suffering. we will have difficult times when oil prices increase. As Kiyosaki so keenly says, "As oil prices go up, wealth goes down." Start with drill here and drill now, add Picken's plan to the mix, and start making changes.
  • As long as our tax system is as convoluted as it is, corporations will continue to move out of country taking valuable jobs with them.
If you want to make a real difference this election period, vote for Congressional change.

Senator Obama Chooses...

It is down to the final hours for Senator Obama. He has made his choice and for some reason he has to drag it out. Why? It keeps his name in the media.

This is one of the most brilliant marketing ploys I have seen. I am watching Fox News as I type and 90% of the coverage is about Obama. Larry King is also covering Obama.

Everyone is talking about this announcement. Talk about viral marketing (oops that's for my other blog).

The consensus is that he has chosen Senator Biden, an accomplished and experienced Senator. This does a couple of things in my opinion:
  • It gives Senator Obama experience on the ticket
  • It gives him an attack dog (respectfully)
Senator Biden is a tenacious campaigner (though he did not come close to drawing attention to himself in the democratic primary race - probably due to the media's love of Senator Clinton). We will see how much of a difference he makes. Of course then again, in 2007 Biden did say he would turn the VP position down, he supposedly has said yes - wait and see as the Saturday text messages come out.

As for Senator McCain, with Biden chosen, then this is the best time to choose Senator Hutchinson from Texas. Senator Obama has dissed the female vote by not choosing Senator Clinton. John McCain could jump at this chance. I have blogged about this before - and now even Dick Morris is saying it!

But I do have to say something about the distinguished gentlewoman from Texas. I have it on good authority that she is more interested in running as governor in Texas (though she would not say no to the VP slot).

The Jeopardy tune is playing! So what is the answer?
Or are we watching:

Have a great weekend.

Russia Tries The World's Patience

Big talk continues to pour out of Russia as they threaten Poland with a nuclear strike, defy the withdrawal treaty, and continue to restrict the freedom of the Russian people.

The withdrawal seems to be more a farce than anything. How do you make it look as though you are pulling out when in all actuality you are not? Thin the troops, seize new areas, and move things around.

NATO, however, has become non-committal in its stance against Russia. Some say this due to their dependence on Russian natural resources. There's that natural resource problem again.

Now, Georgia's government is not an innocent party in this deal.. They have been overzealous in their response to freedoms. But have they done so much that it warrants an invasion? As I learn more, I still say no. Why has Russia acted with such aggression as is punishing a wayward child? I still believe it is Putin's overall plan to regain Russian dominance in the area - and he needs Georgia's natural resources to keep it up.

Here is a news story on the current Russian manipulation of its own news:

Battling Inflation

What would happen if we had an economic stimulus plan that helped to
  • decrease interest rates
  • and to free up capital normally spent on tax compliance?
A major problem that has occurred with the housing debacle was created by fluctuating interest rates that sent a lot of home owners packing because they could not afford the raised mortgage payment.

Interest rates can drive inflation if not monitored correctly. I am not an expert, but from what I do understand, inflation is due to bad borrowing and bad economic practices. Also, if I may deduce, interest helps to pull excess money out of circulation thereby creating a pseudo increase in the value of the dollar which helps to stabilize inflated pricing by creating more demand for money.

Raise the rates too high and the economy becomes sluggish making it harder to afford some products and services. Lower rates too much and inflation begins to rage. It is an indefinite balancing act.

Much of this is caused by the overspending of the federal government. The government (executive and legislative) has for the last eight years spend more than any previous administration. They have spent so much that in order to cover our spending our government has turned to foreign countries to back our borrowing. Now we have a situation that proves why we need a an amendment of some kind that forces Congress to balance the budget and pay off our debt.

Our government has decided that the best practice to fighting our money problems is to print more money (money that is not backed by any physical value - like gold). Printing more money decreases the value of the dollar and again you battle inflation because a deflated dollar means you need more dollars to buy a product.

So what is the answer?

Why not adjust the interest rate for growth (that means lower it). Then balance the federal budget and provide for immediate repaying of all outstanding federal debt! Then pass a balanced budget amendment. Then replace the current tax code with the FairTax because it is the only tax code that can promise the two issues I mentioned at the beginning of this blog.

Okay this is my opinion, what's yours? And yes, as I stated, I am not an expert so if you understand inflation better than me then by all means correct me.

The Saddleback Forum

Now that the forum is over, Senator Obama's supporters are coming out in force to decry the whole thing saying the Senator McCain had a chance to hear the questions. This being blatantly untrue underscores the fact that Senator Obama did get a heads up on one question. Oh well, you can't please everyone.

One of the questions they were asked dealt with evil.

In my Bible reading today, I caught a glimpse of the roots of evil in Psalm 36.

"Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts. They have no fear of God to restrain them. In their blind conceit, they cannot see how wicked they really are." Psalm 36:1-2 (NLT)

Why is God important to our nation and its structure? Why should we still embrace our Judeo-Christian heritage? Why should we allow God in schools?

Without a fear of God there is not anything to restrain us. Without a fear of God there is not anything to restrain evil! Think about suicide bombers. Their acts of terror are unrestrained because the fear of God is not within them, just the fear of human reprisal.

Life with God is the only power man has over sin. When we compare that to how the so-called educational leaders seem to shun anything that has to do with God, we can easily see the lack of fear that keeps them blinded. Their actions are so stemmed with the hatred of anything nominally religious that they cannot see the disastrous affects of removing God from our society (not that we can).

Again I repeat myself about the importance of this issue of God in America. As a nation, we cannot afford to become religion free. It is what drives our consciousness. It is what gives us vitality and life.

Unfortunately, too many people have started believing that the Constitution is a living work that matures and changes with time. How untrue that is. The real truth is revealed in the motives of those who wish to misinterpret this time honored document.

Psalm 36 says further that such people (wicked ones) "lie awake at night, hatching sinful plots. Their course of action is never good. They make no attempt to turn from evil."

People who are driven to rid America of religion are blinded to their own actions. The lack of fear of God reduces their arguments to "I am right therefore there can no longer be any argument." They are willing to use the court system to destroy what the majority holds to be true. they are so adamant about their beliefs that they refuse to see the Divine role of God in the defining of evil.

We have lost the thought that our nation is not a democracy but a republic. We work in light of majorities while listening with respect to minorities. If we cannot reclaim that thought process, we will see our nation torn apart by those who do are blind to evil.

Evil wants only one thing, to eradicate the good. Hopefully our candidates will take that as a very serious question and stand up for our freedom of religion and God's role in politics.

Trickle Down What?

As you try to study something there are times you come across questions you cannot answer.

I am hoping that other FairTax supporters will chime in. I came across this thought while I was reading Why We Want You to Be Rich: Two Men - One Message by Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump.

According to Robert and Donald, the rich choose to invest their money in assets such as business and real estate and other adventures outside the country. How does that affect the "trickle down" effect of the FairTax?

The more I think about it and the more I read about it, I see that much of their investment is made in real estate and business. So taxed or not the money they put into real estate creates new business while generating wealth for themselves.

Maybe I am just musing today. I still believe in the FairTax, especially compared to the utter failure of our current tax structure which allows corporations and the government to steal from our investments and create a seemingly insurmountable federal debt.

Entitlements Attitude

One thing I have gleaned from the book is that most of our entitlement attitude that is driving the destruction of our economy is due to our current tax system.

The FairTax gets rid of the Social Security and Medicare deductions from everyone's paycheck. This hopefully will encourage people to start investing and saving wisely.

By The Way

If you haven't read the book, Why We Want You to Be Rich: Two Men - One Message, then you may want to read it even if you just read the first part. Everything they mentioned two years ago about our economy and oil prices is happening now!

See The Presidential Candidates Live Tonight

I think is will be a great opportunity to see each candidate answer questions about certain topics that matter without debate. You will get to hear from each of their hearts.

Each candidate will have a questions period in front of a live audience. Each candidate will have separate times on stage - neither will know the questions. Pastor Rick Warren will be asking the questions. Here is information about the event:

All general admission tickets have been distributed. Please watch the event live online, on KDOC, Fox News, or CNN.

At the candidates’ request, this two-hour event will be held in a non-debate format, and will be open to all media. Both candidates also requested that questions be posed exclusively by Warren rather than by a panel or members of the audience. Each candidate will converse separately with Warren for approximately an hour, beginning with Sen. Obama, as determined by a coin toss.

This historic forum will be the only joint event for the two, and the last public appearance for either candidate prior to the two-week hiatus during each party’s national convention.

Due to Secret Service mandate, tickets will be required for the event in the main auditorium, but the program will be broadcast live in multiple venues on the Saddleback campus, as well as on several national broadcast networks and online. It will also be streamed live on www.SaddlebackCivilForum.com.

So don't miss it!

2008 Olympics and Russia Ruins Them

I have thoroughly enjoyed the 2008 Olympics. Micheal Phelps has made history. The two girls win gold and silver last night in gymnastics. The countless others who have made this a great event (controversies or not). The Chinese have been good hosts.

Then there is Russia. Putin can't keep his hands to himself. He is ruining the spirit of the games and is now threatening to attack Poland with a nuclear bomb!

I said earlier that Putin is a TERRORIST and he proves it himself. His troops are shooting at anything that moves even the press.

Look at these two videos. The first is a Georgian reporter clearly reporting when she is shot. The next are Turkish reporters whose vehicle is shot to pieces with them in it. You won't believe until you see it.

If United States troops fired that way, we would see them branded as murderers. Well that is exactly what I call the Russian troops - Murderers.

And they say the impotent UN should do something? I pray for peace, but it will only come if the international community including China stand up against Putin and his diabolical plans for world domination. His true KGB colors are shining through.

Then again, the Bible does say there will be wars and rumors of wars:

So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?" And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them. But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately." Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake. But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But not a hair of your head shall be lost. By your patience possess your souls. "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.

The Bear

This is the Ronald Reagan for President ad run in 1984. Can anyone put a face on the bear today?

A Putin Day

If you really want to know who is in charge in Russia, then think about this. The Russian puppet President Medvedev called for a cease fire.

As of today, the Russians are still attacking Georgia. Just another Putin day.

If he can do it in the Ukraine, what is stopping him from doing the same to Georgia?

Is the Democrat Leadership Too Liberal?

George McGovern, My Party Should Respect Secret Union Ballots, gives an excellent Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal concerning the newest piece of legislation, the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). McGovern, the former Democratic Senator and 1972 Democratic Presidential candidate, is blasting leaders in his party for considering a dangerous piece of legislation which would create a new form of mafia rule in unions.

Now, I am not a pro-union person. I am very much opposed to most unions - especially the teacher's unions. Unions have done some great things such as bringing to light the working conditions of employees and helping to establish fair pay. Modern unions, however, are stepping across those lines and bringing whole organizations to a halt for petty differences.

I believe their unfettered power over their members are more harmful now than ever. They bully employees into deals and into strikes. They are now trying to use legislation in order to intimidate employees even further.

Just imagine having a vote where you have to give your name on that vote. That type of demagoguery will change how unions deal with members (especially with those who oppose unionizing). This neo-mafia attitude will cause irreparable danger to anyone who dissents to union policies.

Do the leaders in the Democratic party care? Absolutely not. They are more afraid of losing the money they get from unions. They know their power comes through intimidation and deception. Absolute power does corrupt absolutely, and the unions and the Democrats are proving this to be true.

Yet there is a gleam of hope as old retired Democratic leaders have began to voice their opinions, I fear that their voice are falling on deaf ears. The new Democrats are out for blood and they do not care whom they railroad. They only care about gaining more and more power. They are the new Socialist elite, and they represent the very powers that are looking to eradicate religion and morality from public life.

Okay, so McGovern is not as harsh as I am, but I honestly believe that the Democratic Party is treading in dangerous waters. They are responding to issues with blinders. I guess this is what happens when a political party has a lot of Pied Pipers. They are leaderless, and it shows.

Union leaders better reflect upon this bully tactic to get new unions formed. They are quickly showing Americans what communist rule looks like.

The FairTax is a Christian Act

Read this passage and then see what I have to say about it.

A great protest was mounted by the people, including the wives, against their fellow Jews. Some said, "We have big families, and we need food just to survive." Others said, "We're having to mortgage our fields and vineyards and homes to get enough grain to keep from starving." And others said, "We're having to borrow money to pay the royal tax on our fields and vineyards. Look: We're the same flesh and blood as our brothers here; our children are just as good as theirs. Yet here we are having to sell our children off as slaves—some of our daughters have already been sold—and we can't do anything about it because our fields and vineyards are owned by somebody else." I got really angry when I heard their protest and complaints. After thinking it over, I called the nobles and officials on the carpet. I said, "Each one of you is gouging his brother." Then I called a big meeting to deal with them. I told them, "We did everything we could to buy back our Jewish brothers who had to sell themselves as slaves to foreigners. And now you're selling these same brothers back into debt slavery! Does that mean that we have to buy them back again?" They said nothing. What could they say? "What you're doing is wrong. Is there no fear of God left in you? Don't you care what the nations around here, our enemies, think of you? "I and my brothers and the people working for me have also loaned them money. But this gouging them with interest has to stop. Give them back their foreclosed fields, vineyards, olive groves, and homes right now. And forgive your claims on their money, grain, new wine, and olive oil." They said, "We'll give it all back. We won't make any more demands on them. We'll do everything you say." Then I called the priests together and made them promise to keep their word. Then I emptied my pockets, turning them inside out, and said, "So may God empty the pockets and house of everyone who doesn't keep this promise—turned inside out and emptied." Everyone gave a wholehearted "Yes, we'll do it!" and praised God. And the people did what they promised.Nehemiah 5:1-13 (MSG)

There are three points from this passage form Nehemiah that I believe we each can understand.

  • Taxes are a burden to the poor - look at the impact of the lives of the Israelites. They had a hard time affording food, they were putting their kids to work, and they had to borrow just to pay their taxes. The FairTax offers a prebate to all citizens. The prebate will be given at the beginning of the month which will be automatic assistance to those in need. It is guaranteed grocery money. Plus, with the FairTax, everyone keeps their entire paycheck (excluding any state and local taxes or company benefits), which means they will have their entire paycheck to spend the money as they see fit.
  • Leaders have to be angry enough to stand up and demand a change - Right now our leaders in Congress are being told it is okay to say they are for the FairTax because senior leaders will not let the FairTax come to a vote. Being angry must lead them to action.
  • We need to stand firm and keep our leaders motivated - The less they hear from us about the FairTax the less important they will believe this issue is to us.
As a Christian, it is my civic duty to help care for the poor. As a Christian, I believe a good start is seeing reform in our tax code. I only wish our current candidates for President would hear me. At least my Representative is the author of H.R. 25.

Take a look at each of the platforms of the two major parties (or even the smaller parties). They all want reform but the reform will come in increased spending, tax raises, or tax cuts.

In addition to passing the FairTax, we must work together to get Congress to pass a law demanding fiscal responsibility through a balanced budget.

This is extremely important because our government's failure to stop spending is sending our country on the way towards financial ruin. It has been projected for years. We are depended on foreign countries to sustain our economy through loans. What happens when they say enough is enough and call those loans?

Our country, if we do not work hard to pay back our debt, is on the verge of bankruptcy and we will have to sell out to foreign governments. We are better than this and need to make some very hard yet very necessary changes in order to stop this collapse.

Our current leaders keep smiling and going around believing their own hype that everything will be okay. But if we keep taxing our corporations at the current rate, we will no longer have United States corporations. Budweiser is the latest to seek to be bought out of country because the tax burden is too high. Who will be next?

We need our government officials to call together a panel of men and women who know how to make money and who know how to make hard decisions and let them come up with a plan that will help us get out of debt.

This panel must not have any ex-Congressmen or government officials. It should be put together by the President. Here are a few names to consider - Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, and others in the real world who have been through the hard times and recovered.

Then we need to concentrate on Social Security and Medicare before they both suck us dry. I think we can conquer that tomorrow.

Russian Mind Control

Prime Minister Putin, or should I say the next Russian Communist Extreme Leader, is beginning to show his true colors.

For those of you who have not paid attention to the ploys of this ex-KGB operative, you have missed the slow progression of a country back into communist control. Putin has underhandedly removed any ability for democracy to flourish in his country.
  • He returned Russian media outlets to government control
  • He disbanded and restructured parliament
  • He tried to bully the Ukrainian elections and succeeded
  • He changed election policy to outlaw anyone who is against his political party
  • He has banned any speech that is against his governing
  • He hand-picked the current puppet president
  • He has thumbed his nose at any and every U.S. initiative
  • He created a teen "camp" that teaches teens about his style of governing, paints a hate-filled picture of anyone who opposes him, and preaches communist ideals
And people wonder why he is invading Georgia? He wants one thing, to slowly reunite the former communist Russia.

Why now? He believes the United States is too bogged down to stand up to this new global threat. He knows the European countries will not stand up against him.

He has become the embodiment of terrorism. He is a terrorist!

He is not afraid and has become a loose cannon and believer of in own twisted press. I remember another persona who believed his own press, anyone ever heard of Hitler or Stalin? Terrorism is a threat to the world and Mr. Putin is proving it.

Money Down the Drain

My local school system is paying the price of mismanaging funds. The have built a new school board building, a new high school, two new elementary schools, two new middle schools, and are in the process of another high school.

They have also wasted money on a fingerprint time clock that they do not use. They are constantly changing curriculum. They also are cutting back all teaching incentives and making teachers pay for their own insurance.

Now, the state of Georgia has made some cutbacks (trying to be fiscally responsible). They have made some cuts in education (2%). My financially struggling county school system, that likes closed door meetings and has been firing teachers and teaching assistants left and right, finds itself having to cut back more.

The funny part is that they are paying a new principal for the new high school they have yet to build. They just hired an assistant curriculum director. They have hired plenty of other board positions.

Who are they going to fire? Teachers. They decided smaller classrooms were not worth saving money elsewhere, so they are going to combine classes and then fire teachers and more teaching assistants.

Here is where running a school is like running a business and unfortunately those running the school do not have any business ability. There are plenty of areas they could have fixed instead of doing what they are doing.
  • Why not fire the principal without a job position.
  • How about cutting school days back to four days instead of five
  • Why not stop year long school periods and start school in September when the days are cooler and you do not have to run as much air conditioning
  • Why not find better fund sourcing to pay for incentives that keep teachers instead of cutting benefits and chasing teachers away
  • Use larger class sizes but put qualified teaching assistants in those rooms
I was a school bookkeeper a few years ago. I know where the money is and where it goes. Most of it if funneled back into the board office to help pay for the marble stair case.

I am just a little aggravated because this could affect my wife's job as a teacher. It causes her undue stress because our education system has become a bureaucratic mess.

Voucher programs and scholarships are a beginning, but what really needs to happen is for school systems to be abolished and let private industry come in and make advancements in education.

The money should then follow the student regardless of what type of school they attend.

As long as the federal government keeps a lock on education, our education system will get worse and our students (my kids) will get less from the wasted money used to support our government schools.

Bob Hope Cracks Me Up

You probably have seen this before. If not, it is a funny one-liner from a Bob Hope movie. Maybe the Democrats should view this more seriously because they are making this line from Mr. Hope a truth by not recalling Congress to vote on offshore drilling.

The latest news out of Turkey has a major oil line damaged because the Kurds are throwing more tantrums. The problem with their tantrum is that it is negatively affecting our oil prices. Oil is up because of the news.

Jump On The Offshore Oil Drilling Bandwagon

They can go on vacation, and I did but had to adjust my budget. Now that school is back in session now, I can save enough for next year by setting aside enough money to supplement the 75% dedicated to my gas budget. Okay maybe I am fudging the numbers a little.

While I am saving money, Congress is on a recess, and Speaker Pelosi is traipsing across the U.S. plugging her new book. There is not anyway anyone could get her to call the House back into session (not while there is money to be made).

But what if she received a couple of million emails requesting that she call an emergency session of the House for the soul purpose of giving her fellow house members that chance to vote for drilling offshore. Haven't you heard? Mrs. Pelosi is telling her House Democrats that it is okay to say they will vote for offshore drilling so they can get re-elected.

This can't be a re-election ploy could it? Surely, the House Democrats would not say one thing and then do the opposite like their Republican counterparts, would they?

Well, in order to give her the right motivation, I am including a link to a site that will allow you to send an email to her office requesting for her to call the House back into session. Send Speaker Pelosi a message here.

The Senate Side of Things

You have probably heard about the Gang of 10 (why do senators feel that they need to address themselves as a gang? Why associate yourself with a name that refers to criminal activity?). I digress.

Have you seen the primary components to their proposal for our energy crisis? This is from a CNN report:

The major components of the proposal from the "Gang of 10" include:

  • Expanding drilling opportunities off the East coast and Gulf of Mexico, which pleases Republicans
  • Keeping a ban on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, a concession to Democrats
  • Repealing a tax break for oil companies that Democrats have long called for
  • Putting billions toward producing more alternative-fuel vehicles, in part paid for by the oil and gas industry

I can agree with the first two. Why can't they just stick with those two points and then work on the other two later? Why complicate things by telling Americans that to get the drilling we will also have to flip the bill for billions more in spending?

Do they really believe that the oil companies will lower prices if they have to pay an additional tax? Do they not understand the gas prices will stay higher becuase the corporations will make price adjustments to cover the new taxing? Do they not understand that the consumer will be paying for the taxes?

Yes, they fully understand this but so many people (consumers) are blind when it comes to understanding who really pays corporate taxes. There is not one corporation that will allow its profits to be compromised by government taxes.

My solution

  • Why hasn't President Bush not called together some of the great corporate minds in America for counseling in how to fix our problems. Why not get problems solvers like Warren Buffet, Boone Pickens, Bill Gates and other great corporate leaders to come together and come up with real solutions? Have you seen Pickens suggestions: Pickens Plan
  • Congress should be called back into session by the President. The Republicans are dropping the ball again, and this is just more proof that the Republican Party is seriously experiencing in a leadership vacuum!
  • Make Iraq begin to pay for our troop support with oil.
  • Give tax incentives to oil companies who come up with better alternate fuel sources.
  • Pass the FairTax - never miss a chance to plug a good idea.

Resting on Their Laurels

Since Speaker Pelosi decided to go ahead and go on vacation, the GOP finally decided they should do something. Where have they been, and where are all of them? If it is that important, why are just a few there?

The Democrats left on vacation because getting re-elected is more important that making a difference in our current gas problems or any other meaningful legislation. Other than renaming parks and post offices, what legislation have they dealt with this session? And they wonder why Congress has a lower approval rating than the President.

Of course, the President is sitting on his hands saying that calling the Congress back into session would be useless. What happened to his bold leadership that defeated the Taliban so handily in Afghanistan (something the Russians could not do in years and years of fighting)?

Again, I harp on leadership and the lack of it. The drug induced sixties and seventies and the sexual revolt of the eighties has produced a group of lazy, empathetic leaders who are afraid to take any stand because standing means getting back on their feet which may be dangerous because the drug effects may still be lingering.

Okay, that is mean and uncalled for and not Christi-like but we need leaders not a bunch of babies.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;1 Cor 1:18-27 (NKJV)

Conventional wisdom has been turned upon its head. The scary thing is that our elected leaders are so in love with the current way things are run that they are blinded by words of crack-pots that they are calling experts.

Just at the mention of drilling off-shore the climbing oil prices stopped. Just at the hint of doing something about it the prices began to drop. But what happens now that the talk is over?

The Republicans are grasping for straws long enough to stick out into the air so they can get one final breath before they drown in their failures.

I have to be honest. I really do not want the Republicans to fail, but they are not giving me any hope. John McCain is probably a good leader, but has he called the President and demanded a recall of Congress? Is he taking advantage and using this recess as a chance to lead?

Senator Obama is too busy receiving all the praise due to God. Here is a revamped photo his election seal (read the Latin which says something like - Alas, I believe I am the Coming of God), and no I did not come up with this - thank Neal Boortz:

In all seriousness, I understand more now about the verse above. We have become worshippers of man. We have become too accustomed to believing that man's wisdom and accomplishments are enough to pull us through any predicament.

Earthly wisdom is so simplistic. No wonder people fall so easily for the looks and words of those who say little and do less.

We have forgotten God in this process. Paul spoke a simple message and let God make up the difference. When he did so the people of Corinth were persuade not by elegant speech and persuasive wisdom but by the true power of God.

We need to once again trust in the power of God and not the wisdom of men. My hope rests in Him.

Nothing I have accomplished is worth resting for. So I ask, why has Congress taken a rest?

Why The FairTax Matters Now

The closer we get to November the closer we get to more taxation.

I say this for both candidates. Why? Both have plans to increase spending in federal government. Sen. John McCain wants to cut taxes while doing so. Sen. Barack Obama wants to increase taxes on small business (the greatest contributor to our economy) and in other places.

Why not decrease spending? Why can't they cut spending and get rid of pork spending? Why can't they stand up and be a real leader who advocates real answers?

I was reading a paper in the FairTax this morning from The Beacon Hill Institute at Suffolk University: Taxing Sales Under the FairTax: What Rate Works? By Paul Bachman, Jonathan Haughton, Laurence J. Kotlikoff, Alfonso Sanchez-Penalver, and David G. Tuerck. Their bios are on the research paper.

Through their extensive calculations, they found that by implementing the FairTax, the worst thing the Federal Government would have to do is cut spending, and this was not likely to happen becuase the FairTax would generate enough new revenue to cover the government's current needs.

Now is the greatest moment to push for tax reform. If we do not, they will continue to use our taxes to manipulate the vote to create an even greater negative impact on our future economy.

Rep. John Linder says this about our future:
"Like all the great nations and societies of history the United States is rapidly coming to the end of its existence as a great and powerful country. The shackles of our nearly 70,000 page tax code are making us less and less able to compete in the global economy. Our tax on capital is cutting our businesses off at the knees. Our highest earners have half their income confiscated by the IRS. All of these taxes along with the cost of complying with nearly unfathomable tax regulations put us at a severe disadvantage as competitors in the global economy since these expenses must be added to the price of the goods and services we sell." I want my children to know a great America. What do you want? Email your representatives today and demand a Fair Change - the FairTax.

Reversing the Greatest Threat Against America

"Our "island" or "lone ranger" mentality is beginning to change. Our Justices...are becoming more open to comparative and international law perspectives." - Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, 2003

The more examples I read from Justice Ginsberg's decisions the more I believe she should be impeached from the bench. Time after time she uses international law and opinion to overrule the majority hopes and law of our nation. Ginsberg and other liberal judges are now seeking the advice of the United Nations - the most corrupt and unethical organization in the world, as a means of justifying their opinions. These Justices have fallen into the truth that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The threat against religion was started by radical views from Supreme Court Justices who no longer use our Constitution or the popular majority of Americans as a means of rendering decisions. A frightening trend was started back in 1947 with a man who pulled the new "religious litmus test" out of thin air by misquoting Thomas Jefferson.

Justice Hugo Black's uneducated and improper undermining of the establishment clause has become the slogan for those who would rid America of its Judeo-Christian heritage. Here is proof: Show me anywhere in the United States Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution the phrase - "separation of church and state." You can't because it does not exist. It is a misquote from a letter that the then President Jefferson sent to a concerned baptist contingent that was afraid one form of Christianity may dominate the freedom of the others.

It was never intended to separate Christ from government! The establishment clause means one thing and one thing only: the government cannot set up a church nor limit the work of the church.

Judge Black is the first among many since that time to begin to twist our laws and Constitution to fit their desires or to fit into their pseudo-Utopian ideal about melting into the international arms of brotherhood. This thought process has only been around for the last 65 years of over 230 years of American history.

If our Founding Father's had intended anything different, why did they work so hard in trying to prevent this very mess from happening. Thomas Jefferson, two days after writing that letter, went to church. Do you know where? He attended church in the United States Capitol where church services were held until just after the Civil War!

Jefferson also wrote the first plan of education for the city of Washington which included using the Bible and a hymnal as the primary books to teach reading to students. He also suggested paying a Catholic missionary to reach out to the Indian tribes in order to bring Christ to them and pay those missionaries from public funds!

It was our Founding Fathers that established the chaplaincy corp and paid them to travel with our troops. How in the world can anyone who reads history see our Founding Fathers as ever wishing to separate God from governing?

If we are to reverse these trends
  • We need to re-educate our students with the truth about our Christian heritage. We cannot hide from it because it is our history.
  • We need to pass a law the restricts the Supreme Court to using only our laws and our Constitution as the only means for interpreting our laws.
  • We should impeach judges who continually abuse their positions and who are continuously overturned (bye-bye Ninth Circuit).
  • We should abolish our current federal judicial system under the rules of the Constitution and redesign it to work properly under our laws.
  • We should ask Congress to pass a law insisting, as Newt Gingrich suggests, "on the centrality of "our Creator" in defining American rights, the legitimacy of appeals of God "in public places," and the absolute rejection of judicial supremacy as a violation of the Constitution's balance of powers."
  • We should become very, very, very active in contacting our Congressmen and the President any time the courts over step their boundaries.
Seem extreme? Well, those who are supporting opposing views are that active and they continually win support and victories as we sit on our hands and pray for God's intervention.

Have we forgotten that God has given us a mouth? Did not God have this same discussion with Moses? If we do not act and act now, our freedom will be gone. Do not wait until it is too late, we are already on a slippery slope and a fully controlled Congress and Presidency by the Democrats will have diverse affects that may take too many years to reconcile.

If anything, start praying about how God would want you to be involved and start acting. You are the link to change. Remember, we can do all things through Jesus Christ who is our strength!
