School Systems Closing the Video Door on the President

Kudos to the Walton County School System in Georgia. They have decided, along with numerous states, not to show the President's address to students. Their reason is a good one: his address does not fit with their current curriculum schedule nor requirements.

Part of the larger problem is that they were receiving numerous calls from parents who said their kids would stay home if the address was shown.

Thanks to the one department in our nation that absolutely needs to be abolished (along with the IRS) - the U.S. Department of Education. They are now being blamed for ruining the what may have been a neat address from the president - especially if this speech was going to encourage kids to stay in school and make the most of their education.

Of course, the big problem with our outspoken president is that he does not seem to ever stop talking long enough to listen. Great speech giver but poor listening skills.

Remembering Eunice Kennedy Shriver

I will be honest here, I did not know much about her other than she worked tirelessly to get the Special Olympics off the ground and running. But reading her biography on Wiki, I am amazed at her tenacity and firmness.

Here is a women that even as a Democrat still believed in Christian principles and was not afraid to stand up against that party for what she saw as wrong.

I think she deserves the limelight she is receiving because she really put her money where her mouth is. Her life is a tribute to all Americans who want to see the good in people. Her life represents what can happen when a person is determined to make the best out of any situation.

Mrs. Shriver we will miss you, but your legacy deservedly shall go on!

Blue Dog Democrats, Kudos to the Rational

Blue tick hounds are the feature of one of my favorite childhood stories, Where the Red Fern Grows. These hounds were faithful, loyal, and down right great hunters in the book.

Today we are witnessing a Blue Dog rebellion that proves that all Democrats have not fallen for the lust for power. I do not know how many will remain this way but until then - KUDOS to the Blue Dogs.
  • They have proven that they are faithful to the people that they represent and not the party sing-a-long.
  • They have proven that they are loyal and committed to the American ideal, an ideal that began with our forefathers: a republic for the people and by the people (not the ruling party)
  • They have also proven to be great hunters as they are actually reading through the 1000 page nightmare being called "health care reform".

These great hunters have unearthed a $100 billion dollar fiasco that was written into the bill. Someone thought that they would be clever with the budget by putting in a provision for general health care (which would cover shots, wellness visits and such). This sounds great until you hear the next part.

The $100 Billion dollars will NOT be included as a budgeted item. In other words, the Democrats who are pushing this mess are hiding spending on health care! How else could they change the numbers and make the costs look better?

Let me put it in a better picture. Say I have a $2000 a month budget for my household. All the money has a category, and I do not have any extra income. But I decide to make a provision for $1000 more a month spending, without any way of covering the cost (not on credit or any other means of payment).

I can't do that. But the "fuzzy" math of our legislature allows them to print money whenever the feel like it. SO they fake the numbers and lie to us about the real costs!

Oh no, you say. Read Jamie Dupree's blog. Here is a snippet:

How about the title of Section 1705 for some good government language, "Expanded Outstationing."

This basically makes it easier for people to apply for help from the government at "DSH" hospitals - Disproportionate Share Hospitals, which get money from the feds and states to treat indigent patients.

Section 1712 would drop the "Tobacco Cessation Exclusion From Covered Outpatient Drugs."

That would make tobacco cessation counseling a covered benefit for pregnant women, according to one review of this bill.

Medicare began covering some of these type services in 2005.

Finally, let's talk about the government exempting some of its operations from certain laws, in this case the Paperwork Reduction Act, which has a self-explanatory title.

This bill has one specific exemption from that law, in Section 1221 on "Ensuring Effective Communication in Medicare."

I will let you come up with some quick one-liners on how an excessive amount of paperwork might not ensure effective communication.

Remember, you can download the bill yourself at http://bit.ly/nSL2A

As we work through the details of these bills, I keep getting complaints about my effort to see what's in these, in other words an accusation of media bias against the Democrats and President Obama.

One person was especially aggravated at my blog about Section 2002, which had a special budgetary exemption, so that certain costs were not counted on budget.

Don't believe the compost coming out of Washington! read it for yourself and see the disaster awaiting for us as our politicians seek to sink our nation into the mire of a greater depression.

It's time for the hippie revolution on Capital Hill to end.

U.S. Navy 1, Pirates -3

Congratulations to the United States Navy and their bravery in rescuing an American hero, Captain Richard Phillips. This is an easy Kudos moment in our resolve to stand against sea terrorist from Somalia.

Now the sea terrorists want revenge for the death of the three recalcitrant terrorists while pointing AK-47s at the captain. Well, if they really want a war, I say give the Somalian government six weeks to clean up their act or their coast will be obliterated.

Okay, maybe cooler heads will prevail in this moment.
  • I want to congratulate President Obama for making the choice of ending this in the best possible manner.
  • I think the commander who made the call to end the lives of the sea terrorists deserves a commendation for acting so swiftly in command.
  • The three seals who fired the shot - Gentlemen, may God watch over you and bless you!
  • To Captain Phillips, thanks for your heroism in the line of fire. Great men save lives.

To the Somalia sea terrorists - Give up or face the same fate!

Kudos to Texas Gov. Rick Perry

This week's kudos go to Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Not only is he being very positive about his state's future, he is not willing to bow down to the stimulus racket. He turned down $555 million in stimulus.

I do have to say he did take most of the $17 billion offered. At least he drew that line somewhere.

All the money being presented to states needs to be carefully looked over, and states need to turn down money that is over the top.

Maybe the Congress will get a clue that they do not know what is best for the states and maybe they will get out of stealing rights given to the states.

Kudos to Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J.

I am going to highlight certain political leaders from time to time for speaking their minds and holding to their personal ethics and standing up for true moral conduct.

Today's hero is Representative Chris Smith from New Jersey. Mr. Smith came out this week and called our new President the "abortion President". I cannot agree more.

Never in our countries history have we seen such blatant moral disregard for life and the disregard for our nation's constitution than our newly elected President with his insatiable lust to allow people to destroy life without considering the repercussions. The sad part is that our Congress is becoming so morally corrupt that it turns a blind eye.

Mr Obama has called for the repealing of Mr. Bush's order to allow health care professionals (people who should have a right to decide how they will treat patients based on moral grounds) to opt out of abortion or other procedures that they may consider morally wrong. President Obama, on the other hand, thinks it is right to force people to go against their moral beliefs.

Now Mr. Obama is also calling for the use of embryonic stem cell research when there are two viable research options that could use funding and be implemented quickly. Instead, he would rather see the unborn suffer. The grounds that those who need these treatment suffer without the embryos are false! There are options we are using right now that will not reduce our nation's moral collateral.

The problem with abortions is not only the death of the innocent. How can we call for improvements in human rights when we do not afford those rights to the unborn?

So, thank you Rep. Smith for standing up for the moral grounds our nation used to hold true!
