President Obama and My Hopes

I watched with joy the inauguration of our newest president. I can say the joy is not from knowing his desires for our country but for all those who thought becoming president was impossible.

Here are my hopes for the next 100 days:

  • That the Republican party will soon embrace all races and hear what they are saying
  • That the Democratic party will stop looking down on everyone as if they were really that high and mighty
  • That the Democratic party would stop being intolerant
  • That President Obama listens to the counsel of those wanting the FairTax
  • That President Obama will truly stand up for the principles our nation was founded upon - in Christ
  • That President Obama would accept the principles of the Pickens Plan
  • That President Obama would listen to the AMA and work with them to lower our insurance rates and find a better way for people to pay for their own insurance
  • That President Obama would remember Christ as His Savior and govern in a manner that reflects the moral standings of our nation
  • That President Obama will not give in to the homosexual agenda
  • That our government will put education back into the hands of the people at the local level
I could go on. If you have read this blog, you know that I strongly support the FairTax, the Pickens Plan, and the AMA's attempt to help everyone get medical coverage.

I have spoken a little about education. I just want to mention that we cannot compare ourselves to nations who have smaller populations as if they had answers for us. We are a large and diverse nation. We have many differing religious and moral views. You cannot put education in the hands of our incompetent federal government and expect everyone to look the same.

Education needs to be put back into the hands of the local population, at most with a set of standards. It must be privatized or at least allow parents to use funding to send their children to which ever school they choose (even if it is a Christian school).

Anyway, that is my hope list for the next 100 days.

The Picken's Plan

OPEC to Cut Production

Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump say it best - when oil prices go up, wealth goes down and vice versa.

Just look what has happened over the past several years. Oil prices have steadily risen faster than our economy could cope and helped lead to our decline in wealth.

Our government has had years to deal with this problem (since Jimmy Carter in the late 1970's, so almost 30 years), and instead, they sit on their laurels just getting wealthy at our expense. And instead of coming up with answers and being leaders, they have decided to throw money at the problem makers which has increased our national debt so much that my children's children will be paying for this mess.

Enough is enough.

The Picken's Plan is a a great place to start when dealing with our oil dependency. Mark my words, OPEC is already trying to outmaneuver us. They are already looking at how they can buy out our alternative fuel sources so that when oil is no longer economically feasible they will not lose money.

We must act now!

The Picken's Plan puts us in the driver's seat. It is a simple plan to get our larger vehicles and many of our smaller vehicles on natural gas in order to put money back into our economy while we shift our attention to developing more alternative fuel sources such as wind power, solar power, and other viable and renewable sources of energy.

We have to stop giving foreign entities, who would rather have our nation fail than survive, our money! Iran wants our wealth not our help. Saudi Arabia wants our wealth not our survival. Venezuela's nut cased leader wants our demise regardless. Russia wants us to suffer so they can again regain superpower status.

We need to act now and start contacting President-elect Obama's transition team and energy moguls. They need to hear from us, and here is how you can get involved:

Pickens Plan e-Rally

Listen real carefully around the 5 minute mark.

Foreign oil companies are looking to take the money we have spent in their oil and turn it around and buy up our green energy ideas. Do you always want to be in debt to them or are you ready to change?

This video will help you understand what's really happening with energy. Listen to the experts -- not the politicians. As Mr. Pickens says, "If they say this plan doesn't work, the ask them what their plan is. If they don't have one, then they do not have an answer."

Arm yourself with knowledge and demand an answer!

Simple Electricity In Your BackYard

Just imagine having your own personal wind turbine. I kind of like this one but there are many more out there.

What about saving water with a simple filtration tank that filters water from your tub and shower to be used to flush your toilet.

How about affordable solar and steam energy:

And the government is worried about oil?

Bob Hope Cracks Me Up

You probably have seen this before. If not, it is a funny one-liner from a Bob Hope movie. Maybe the Democrats should view this more seriously because they are making this line from Mr. Hope a truth by not recalling Congress to vote on offshore drilling.

The latest news out of Turkey has a major oil line damaged because the Kurds are throwing more tantrums. The problem with their tantrum is that it is negatively affecting our oil prices. Oil is up because of the news.

Hello Congress - GET BACK TO WORK!

Jump On The Offshore Oil Drilling Bandwagon

They can go on vacation, and I did but had to adjust my budget. Now that school is back in session now, I can save enough for next year by setting aside enough money to supplement the 75% dedicated to my gas budget. Okay maybe I am fudging the numbers a little.

While I am saving money, Congress is on a recess, and Speaker Pelosi is traipsing across the U.S. plugging her new book. There is not anyway anyone could get her to call the House back into session (not while there is money to be made).

But what if she received a couple of million emails requesting that she call an emergency session of the House for the soul purpose of giving her fellow house members that chance to vote for drilling offshore. Haven't you heard? Mrs. Pelosi is telling her House Democrats that it is okay to say they will vote for offshore drilling so they can get re-elected.

This can't be a re-election ploy could it? Surely, the House Democrats would not say one thing and then do the opposite like their Republican counterparts, would they?

Well, in order to give her the right motivation, I am including a link to a site that will allow you to send an email to her office requesting for her to call the House back into session. Send Speaker Pelosi a message here.

The Senate Side of Things

You have probably heard about the Gang of 10 (why do senators feel that they need to address themselves as a gang? Why associate yourself with a name that refers to criminal activity?). I digress.

Have you seen the primary components to their proposal for our energy crisis? This is from a CNN report:

The major components of the proposal from the "Gang of 10" include:

  • Expanding drilling opportunities off the East coast and Gulf of Mexico, which pleases Republicans
  • Keeping a ban on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, a concession to Democrats
  • Repealing a tax break for oil companies that Democrats have long called for
  • Putting billions toward producing more alternative-fuel vehicles, in part paid for by the oil and gas industry

I can agree with the first two. Why can't they just stick with those two points and then work on the other two later? Why complicate things by telling Americans that to get the drilling we will also have to flip the bill for billions more in spending?

Do they really believe that the oil companies will lower prices if they have to pay an additional tax? Do they not understand the gas prices will stay higher becuase the corporations will make price adjustments to cover the new taxing? Do they not understand that the consumer will be paying for the taxes?

Yes, they fully understand this but so many people (consumers) are blind when it comes to understanding who really pays corporate taxes. There is not one corporation that will allow its profits to be compromised by government taxes.

My solution

  • Why hasn't President Bush not called together some of the great corporate minds in America for counseling in how to fix our problems. Why not get problems solvers like Warren Buffet, Boone Pickens, Bill Gates and other great corporate leaders to come together and come up with real solutions? Have you seen Pickens suggestions: Pickens Plan
  • Congress should be called back into session by the President. The Republicans are dropping the ball again, and this is just more proof that the Republican Party is seriously experiencing in a leadership vacuum!
  • Make Iraq begin to pay for our troop support with oil.
  • Give tax incentives to oil companies who come up with better alternate fuel sources.
  • Pass the FairTax - never miss a chance to plug a good idea.

2 Things

The DOW dropped almost 400 points this past Friday. Oil reached a new record high per barrel. Unemployment levels increased. People are becoming more worried and stressed about their futures.

The Democrats in Congress are coming to the rescue. They have decided to sponsor two different bills that will cause a rise in the prices at the gas pump and in home energy costs. One bill goes after those "evil" businessmen who are making money. The other is a ill-conceived bill to reduce greenhouse gases.

Go Democrats, go!

As I have said in the past, I am by no means against protecting our environment. It is our God given responsibility. I am against ideas that have not been thought through, especially during an election year when Congress is using these bills to trick and mislead their constituents.

So here again I emphasize two ideas that are better alternatives than the political junk that comes out of a Washington without a clue.

  1. The FairTax. Taxes should never be used to manipulate votes and yet that is all we are hearing from politicians. One wants to tax some higher. The other wants to reduce taxes. Why not equalize the playing field and take taxes off the bargaining table and give REAL HELP to the citizens of the United States.
  2. Drill in Alaska and off the coasts of the Eastern US. I know environmentalist balk at this idea. I understand the concerns. But are the concerns verified? Are they legit? Is there any evidence that shows that drilling in Alsaka will be a natural disaster? I do see that it will open up supply which according to my economics classes will help to drive down costs. I think it is called supply and demand.
I was interested in how much people pay for gas in places like Egypt and Saudi Arabia. One paid .12 per gallon. The other paid .42 per gallon. Why is that? Because they have their own supply. Brazil just become energy independent. Why? Because they decided to take a chance see if there was any oil off their coast.

I saw a report on one of my local news stations that even shows how Kudzu which grows at a rate of sixty feet per year can be used to produce ethanol: Kudzu Could be Key to Solving Gas Crisis

Why not pick one problem at a time and fix them. That's right, I forgot. If the problems are fixed, the politicians will not have anything to run on.

Are You Angry Enough

I am tired of oil prices growing out of reach for people. Why doesn't Washington see this? Because we are paying for their gas!

Why don't we reduce the salaries of Congress, the President, and the others? Maybe then they can feel the crush of the gasoline prices. But do they care? NO. They are too busy thinking about themselves to care about people.

My state used to average about 25 cents less than the national average. Now we are at the national average and above it in some areas.

Let's do something about it. Here is a link to a petition being carried by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich.
