Rev Wright Sermon

I have heard for weeks about the many times Rev Wright has seemingly demonized America. I have heard many people call him un-American. Until I actually listened to the controversial sermon, I could not judge for myself, and I still do not judge him.

Here is the sermon.

All of the clips I have heard from the news media made me believe that all the comments were from several sermons. But all the clips come from just this one sermon? How odd is that?

Again, I am not defending the sermon by Rev. Wright nor am I judging him. That is not my right.

I can say that yes the government does fail. Yes, government officials do lie. Yes, God never fails and is always right on time.

I also can say that if one knows the government fails, then why trust it to grow larger and let it control health care and education? If government fails, what makes anyone believe that government can support those basic wants and not mess them up?

I fear a government that continues to grow at an uncontrollable rate. President Bush has presided over some of the largest growth in government in known US history. Uncontrolled spending happens when the people give away control by allowing the government to pull strings with the taxes we pay every year.

So, instead of passing judgment for ratings, I have two verses I want us to think about:

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. 3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:1-7 (NKJV)

If I have spoken evil against anyone through this blog or any other arena, I apologize.

God belongs in America. We can either choose to recognize Him or we can choose to believe the government is the answer to all our woes. I hope you get the gist of what I am trying to say.

Let's work together to limit our governments growth and increased the power that belongs to the people not our politicians. Small steps can start by supporting the FairTax. Join today.
